Boulder Gang!!!

Madri and i went to the New Wine conference at Shepton Mallet to be part of the team who took care of the 10 & 11 year old kids. There were about 750 kids!!

We drove past Stone Henge on the way there.

We camped in our little tent for the week.
And soon it became the centre of attention. Just kidding. We're all just having a break.

London Tour

We had to do the tourist thing! So we took a big red bus tour of London. It was the perfect day to do it, we had great weather, good sights and a whole lot of fun.

Good friends, good times

One of Madri's good friends from uni came over to the UK from SA for a week and a bit. It was a great time of catching up, sharing and just hanging around together.

My best friend's wedding

On the 7th July 2006 one of my closest friends got married in Ireland. I was the best man. It was a brilliant time of catching up and helping out with all that had to be done concerning the preparations and stuff. We flew over to Ireland on the 1st and stayed in the flat above their church for the week. It was great spending some time with the two love birds and Grant's family for a while.

The Longest Day

This is what the sky looks like here in Tonbridge just a little past 10 at 'night' on the longest day of the year. Beautiful deep blue colour.

Our New old Car!!!

We bought a new car last week!!! We have as yet not named her, so if you come up with a classic name, then we might do you the honour of naming her. She is a 1992 Vauxhall Astra with a 1.6l engine and an automatic gearbox. ie. The perfect runaround. Not to say, however, that the insurance cost us more than the car itself!!

So now we are mobile and intend to use this new vehicle for a couple of serious expeditions... Will share some more about that a little later.

Our first taste of life with kids

For the last couple of days Madri and myself have had the great opportunity of experiencing some of what life might be like once we have kids of our own. My brother (and his wife) have gone to a 5 day conference in England and have asked us to look after their kids for the five days. They are truly lovely kids and we're having a great time about it, but it is rather taxing to keep a constant eye on a little being who's greatest goal is to do something wrong or hurtful to himself or others. But i guess that's why God intended 2 adults to work together at the children thing. It really just makes sense. I certainly couldn't do this alone. I feel really sorry for any woman who has to do this task alone.

Famillial visitations

This weekend was a whole lot of fun as Anke and Tarina came over to spend the weekend here at our little humble abode. We didn't keep them too busy, but we did the exploration thing to two towns around Tonbridge which we hadn't yet seen. We went to Sevenoaks, nice town, but not too much to do there and then Tunbridge Wells, much nicer. Sorry, we didn't take any photos. Then yesterday we tried to play Cranium, only to realise that it is the UK edition and we don't have any idea what the majority of things on the cards are... It took us half the pack of cards just to get off start. Was a lot of fun anyway.
